More pitches and pitches and pitches!

Hello there, (in obi-wan’s voice)

I despise academics and rain.

But hey, fall is upon us…. which means it’s time to binge watch Gilmore Girls. Throughout fall, I will be presenting my favourite dialogues by Lorelai Gilmore (because i love her).

Enough about this, I’ve got pitches for you!
Do it or face my fall wrath (I’m just kidding).

Announcements

  • My office hours for this term will be on Mondays from 12-2 p.m. and on Fridays from 11-1 p.m. If you have any questions regarding the photo section, feel free to reach out!

First time contributing? Start here!

1. Check out these guides to the Ubyssey photo section and what makes a good photo.

2. To claim a pitch, reply to this email and wait for confirmation from me that it's still available.

3. If you need to borrow a camera, let me know when you sign up for a pitch.

4. Take as many photos as you think fit the assignment, then select the best 5–10. Feel free to use editing software as needed (and let me know if you need Lightroom access).

5. Send photos in JPG format and make sure each file is between 1–3MB.

6. Name the photos as follows: YYYYMMDD_first initial_last name_pitch_file number (e.g., 20210908 i falsetti sky train 1)

7. For coverage of people and events, please provide a brief caption to go alongside each photo.

8. Email photos in a folder to [email protected]. If sharing via Google Drive, please make sure I have access!

Photo pitches

Please send in all photos by 12 pm on the deadline (unless the event you are covering is happening that day). If you need to borrow a camera, let me know when you sign up for a pitch.

Sports

  1. A writer is working on a club profile of the fencing club. The angle is a little informative - what’s the fencing club all about? They typically practice in the basement of the nest in evenings. A photo of them practicing would be great to accompany the article. Deadline: 8th October

  2. A global rugby competition will take place at Langley Events Centre on October 5 and 6. The angle is standard recap and action-focused. I need at least 2 people to accompany me. Deadline: 7th October.

  3. A photo of golf equipments or a person playing golf. Deadline: 27th September
